What is Enrichment Status?

Enrichment Status shows the current state of Catchlight's data enrichment process for each client record. It tells you whether the system has finished gathering and processing third-party data for that individual.

Why it matters: Understanding enrichment status helps you know when data is complete and reliable vs. when it's still being processed or when enrichment encountered issues.

Enrichment Status Values

Complete

What it means: Enrichment process has finished successfully; all available data has been gathered and processed.

What to expect:

  • Most enrichable fields are populated (70-90% coverage typical)

  • Data is as current as source data allows

  • High confidence in match and data accuracy

  • Ready for use in analysis and outreach

When you see this: 80-90% of records with sufficient identifying information

Action: Use data confidently for segmentation, prioritization, and personalized outreach

Note: "Complete" doesn't mean every field is populated—it means the enrichment process finished. Some fields may still be blank if data isn't publicly available for that person.

Partial

What it means: Some data has been enriched, but enrichment is incomplete or certain data sources couldn't be accessed.

What to expect:

  • 30-70% of enrichable fields populated

  • Core identity and demographic data likely present

  • Professional or financial data may be sparse

  • Some data sources may have returned no results

Common causes:

  • Person has limited public information available

  • Recent data uploads (enrichment still processing)

  • Match confidence too low for certain data sources

  • Privacy settings on social media or professional profiles

Action:

  • Use available data but recognize limitations

  • Consider manual research for high-priority contacts

  • May improve over time as more data becomes available

  • Schedule for re-enrichment if needed

In Progress

What it means: Enrichment is currently underway; system is actively gathering and processing data.

What to expect:

  • Data is being populated in real-time

  • Field coverage increasing as enrichment proceeds

  • Typically resolves to "Complete" or "Partial" within 24-72 hours

When you see this: Recently uploaded records, newly added clients

Action:

  • Wait 24-72 hours before using data for critical decisions

  • Check back in 2-3 days for updated status

  • Don't use for immediate campaigns (data incomplete)

Timeline: Most records move from "In Progress" to "Complete" within 48 hours

Pending

What it means: Record is queued for enrichment but hasn't started yet.

What to expect:

  • Only your uploaded CRM data is present

  • No third-party enrichment data yet

  • Will move to "In Progress" when enrichment begins

Common causes:

  • Recent bulk upload (large batches are queued)

  • System processing backlog

  • Lower priority in enrichment queue

Action:

  • Allow 3-5 business days for processing

  • Use only your original CRM data in the meantime

  • Contact support if pending for more than 7 days

Failed

What it means: Enrichment attempted but could not complete due to insufficient identifying information or other issues.

What to expect:

  • Minimal or no third-party enrichment data

  • Only your original uploaded data visible

  • Match confidence likely very low or zero

Common causes:

  • Insufficient identifiers: Only name provided (no address, email, phone)

  • Common names: "John Smith" with no unique identifiers

  • Invalid data: Incorrect email format, fake address

  • Very private individuals: No public information available

  • Deceased individuals: Records not updated

  • Non-existent people: Typos or fictitious names

Action:

  1. Review your source data: Is the information correct and complete?

  2. Add more identifiers: Provide email, phone, address, employer, age

  3. Verify the person exists: Check LinkedIn, Google search

  4. Request re-enrichment: After adding more data

  5. Manual research: If high-priority, research manually

Improvement steps:

  • Add email address (best single identifier)

  • Add complete mailing address

  • Add employer and job title

  • Verify name spelling

  • Provide age or date of birth

  • Include phone number

Not Started

What it means: Enrichment hasn't been attempted yet.

What to expect:

  • Only your uploaded data is available

  • No enrichment attempted or scheduled

Common causes:

  • Account setup in progress

  • Enrichment not included in your service tier

  • Record flagged for manual review before enrichment

  • Data quality issues preventing auto-enrichment

Action:

  • Verify enrichment is included in your Catchlight subscription

  • Check with administrator or Catchlight support

  • Ensure record meets minimum data requirements

Related Data Quality Fields

Data Coverage Percentage

What it is: Percentage of Catchlight fields that are populated (0-100%)

Interpretation:

  • 80-100%: Excellent coverage—comprehensive profile

  • 60-79%: Good coverage—most key fields present

  • 40-59%: Moderate coverage—basic profile

  • 20-39%: Limited coverage—sparse data

  • 0-19%: Very limited—mostly your uploaded data only

Note: Coverage percentage depends partly on what's publicly available, not just enrichment success.

Match Confidence

What it is: Confidence that enrichment data matches the correct person

Values: Excellent, Good, Fair, Needs Review

Relationship to Enrichment Status:

  • High match confidence + Complete = Highly reliable data

  • Low match confidence + Complete = Enrichment finished but uncertain match

  • High match confidence + Failed = Good identifiers but no public data found

See: 5.2: Profile & Identity Data for detailed Match Confidence explanation

Last Enrichment Date

What it is: Date enrichment last ran for this record

Use cases:

  • Identifying stale records (enrichment over 12 months ago)

  • Determining if recent updates have been captured

  • Prioritizing re-enrichment for important clients

Best practice: Consider re-enrichment annually for high-value clients to capture recent changes

Using Enrichment Status Strategically

Filtering for Data Quality

High-Quality Data Only:

  • Filter: Enrichment Status = Complete AND Match Confidence = Excellent or Good

  • Use for: Critical campaigns, high-touch outreach, important segmentation

  • Confidence level: High—use data to personalize outreach

Usable Data:

  • Filter: Enrichment Status = Complete OR Partial AND Match Confidence = Good or Fair

  • Use for: Standard campaigns, general segmentation

  • Confidence level: Moderate—verify key facts before citing

Needs Improvement:

  • Filter: Enrichment Status = Failed OR Match Confidence = Needs Review

  • Use for: Data cleanup projects, re-enrichment candidates

  • Action: Improve source data and request re-enrichment

Prioritizing Data Cleanup

High-Value, Low-Quality:

  • Filter: Projected Revenue > $15K AND Enrichment Status = Failed or Partial

  • Action: Manually research and enhance data, request re-enrichment

  • ROI: Worth the effort for high-value clients

Recent Uploads Monitoring:

  • Filter: Enrichment Status = In Progress or Pending

  • Action: Monitor until completion, delay campaigns until complete

  • Timeline: Check back in 3-5 days

Campaign Readiness Checks

Before launching a campaign, filter your target audience:

Ready for Campaign:

  • Enrichment Status = Complete

  • Has email address or phone number

  • Match Confidence = Good or Excellent

Not Ready:

  • Enrichment Status = In Progress, Pending, or Failed

  • Wait for completion or exclude from campaign

Re-Enrichment Requests

When to request re-enrichment:

  • Status = Failed, but you've added more identifying information

  • Status = Partial, and client is high-priority

  • Last Enrichment Date > 12 months ago and client had major life event

  • Match Confidence is low, but you've verified correct person

How to request: Contact your Catchlight administrator or support with:

  • Client name and Catchlight ID

  • Additional information you've gathered

  • Reason for re-enrichment request

Troubleshooting Common Issues

"Why is enrichment status still 'In Progress' after a week?"

Possible causes:

  • System backlog (large bulk upload)

  • Data quality issues requiring manual review

  • Technical issues with data sources

Action:

  • Contact Catchlight support with Catchlight ID

  • Provide any additional identifying information you have

"Why did enrichment fail for a client I know has lots of public information?"

Possible causes:

  • Name mismatch (they use different name publicly)

  • Incorrect or outdated identifiers in your upload

  • Recent name change (marriage, legal change)

Action:

  • Verify name spelling matches LinkedIn, public records

  • Add email address from LinkedIn or professional profile

  • Add employer and job title

  • Request re-enrichment with corrected data

"Enrichment is complete but many fields are still empty. Why?"

Explanation: "Complete" means the process finished, not that all fields are populated. Some people simply don't have public data for certain fields.

Common scenarios:

  • Private individuals with no social media

  • Self-employed with no company information

  • Renters (no property records)

  • People who don't share interests/hobbies publicly

This is normal: Not everyone has comprehensive public data available.

"Can I force re-enrichment to get updated data?"

Answer: Yes, contact your Catchlight administrator to request re-enrichment for specific records.

Best candidates for re-enrichment:

  • High-value clients (projected revenue $15K+)

  • Recent life events (job change, home purchase)

  • Enrichment over 12 months old

  • Previously failed enrichments where you've added more data

Best Practices

  1. Check enrichment status before campaigns: Don't include records still in progress

  2. Monitor new uploads: Allow 3-5 days for enrichment to complete

  3. Prioritize high-value failures: Manually research and re-enrich important clients with failed status

  4. Annual re-enrichment: Schedule yearly re-enrichment for top clients to capture life changes

  5. Improve source data: Add emails, addresses, employers to your CRM before upload to improve match rates

  6. Set expectations: "Complete" doesn't mean 100% coverage—some fields will always be blank for some people

Data Quality Improvement Tips

To Increase Enrichment Success Rates:

Upload complete data:

  • Full legal name (first, middle, last)

  • Complete mailing address

  • Email address (professional or personal)

  • Phone number

  • Employer name

  • Job title or occupation

Verify data accuracy:

  • Spell names correctly

  • Use current, not outdated, information

  • Format addresses properly

  • Validate email addresses

Minimum for successful enrichment: At minimum, provide: Full name + email OR Full name + complete address

The more identifiers you provide, the higher the match confidence and data coverage.
