Disabling Two-Way SMS

Turn off two-way SMS, including what happens to your billing on add-on plans.

Written by Chris Ross

Need to turn off two-way SMS — for a compliance pause, a staffing gap, or because you no longer want to receive replies? You can disable it yourself from the Messages page.

How to disable

  1. Open the Messages page.

  2. Click Settings (the gear icon, top-right).

  3. In Message settings, find the Two-way SMS row and click Disable.

  4. Confirm when prompted.

The page returns to the "Turn on two-way SMS" screen, so you'll always know when it's off.

What changes when you disable

  • The Messages inbox is hidden until you re-enable.

  • You stop getting notification emails when leads reply.

  • You can't send messages from the portal.

  • Your outbound campaigns keep running as normal — they're unaffected.

What stays the same

  • Replies from leads are still received and stored — they're just hidden from you.

  • Opt-outs (STOP) are still honored at the carrier level.

  • Your conversation history isn't deleted — it reappears exactly as you left it when you re-enable.

  • Your notification recipient list is preserved.

If you're on an add-on plan

If two-way SMS is a paid add-on ($15/month), disabling cancels your Stripe subscription at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then, with no immediate charge or refund. Re-enable before the period ends and the cancellation is reversed with no new charge; re-enable after it ends and a fresh $15 subscription starts. On included plans, disabling is just a visibility toggle with no billing impact.

Re-enabling

You can turn it back on any time — see Enabling Two-Way SMS. Your notification recipients and conversation history all come back exactly as they were.
